Recently, I was looking for some really nice pictures of our fair city and couldn't find as much as I hoped. That being said, everyone's idea of a picturesque scene aren't quite the same. In since this is a slow Monday (at least for me) I figure we could all kill some time by posting your favorite picture of Jacksonville. Here's one of mine.

Heavy trafficked sites like metrojax will suck your bandwidth up at photobucket in a heartbeat. I wound up just paying for the extra bandwidth since i'm a photo junke, you could always try flickr or another photosharing site for free though.
I remember watching the progress on The Carling daily back in 2004, anticipating when I could move into it:

I can't find it anymore, but there was an amazing one on Flickr taken of the acosta, at night, from the east side of the river, where the bridge pilings kind of fanned out for a really cool effect. It was so cool.

How did you do that!?!? What a fantastic picture!!
great pics Avon!! love em!
Thanks for the compliments everyone....
Jason I took that a couple months ago and thought the yellow boat would look cool as the focal point....
I just did it with layers in Photoshop....
I do wedding photography and a lot of brides want images with just the flowers in color..
I only use the technique when the image contains a very strong color because it can be overdone pretty quickly, but a few photos like this are always nice....
I took the 11E sign from the roof of the building and I have some really nice shots of downtown from there....
I will try to post some later because they are really nice.....
Here are some of my Jacksonville pictures.

Why is the Main Street Bridge blue?
QuoteWhy is the Main Street Bridge blue?
Because it ain't YELLOW!
No, all kidding aside, under Mayor Goldbold, the city painted the streets (REALLY) did art fests in the parks, mixed cultures, did shows, and painted AND lit each bridge in a unique pattern. Sadly the current gods of City Hall, have allowed it all to go to hell.
The Fuller Warren was Green
The Acosta was Orange
Main Street was Blue
The Hart was Green
The Matthews was Garnet
I wish they'd get creative and bring some of that back. It was a cheap way to have some civic pride. People even started giving directions by colors!
My best guess is the photographer wanted to bring back those memories of our bright bridge era. OCKLAWAHA
OCK,, I remember those days :)

Perhaps you also know what happened to the neon(I assume) lights that decorated the top panels on the bridge... they changed colors and patterns. I think they were installed prior to the Super Bowl... I loved those lights...
