For everyone that travels north on I95 through downtown you might want to watch the traffic and adjust your commute accordingly. The work to shift the interstate over to new lanes isn't completed yet as it was supposed to be. As of 30 minutes ago the interstate was down to one lane in spots and they were actively digging a hole in the middle of the other lane. Even if they get it fixed the apparent confusion of the uninformed masses is going to be a problem in and of itself. I saw one person completely stop at the I95NB/Dt Ramp split to figure out where they were going ;D
Thanks for the info.
I get to look forward to this on my way home. The northbound lanes looked pretty bad this morning going all the way past JTB. The radio was estimating a travel time of over an hour from JTB to the I10 split. Looked to me like they were condensing the traffic to one lane when the re-route began about Emerson, and then it went down to one lane again just before the Fuller Warren when the traffic was routed back onto the original 95N.
I didn't even bother this morning. From where I live in Mandarin it's easier to hop on the Buckman and take 17 into downtown (San Jose/Hendricks was jammed up too)
Sounds like it was (and will be) a huge mess.
From what I saw this morning it looks like I95 northbound will com condensed to 2 lanes while they are redoing the bridge. So it's going to be slow going for a while.
One lane? Who designed this disaster ?
The website said it was supposed to be 3 lanes during this period. Tells me they fell behind.
It looked like a huge mess. I ended up taking Philips into downtown this morning. Now I'm about to head to Orlando for meetings, so I'll get to see if it's cleared up.

It wasn't supposed to be one lane. They apparently have two open now. Google maps is showing a mile backup still.

I go home via 95 North, so this could be interesting. When I left from Riverside, the backup was nearly to Baymeadows.
Well I'll be heading back on Beach today. Pretty bad backup this morning.
Just got this:

Subject: Update: I-95 Overland Bridge
Update: The contractor has advised all lanes on I-95 northbound are open.
On another note, if you read the From line at face value, I just got an email from a bridge.
^ except that wasn't really the case....the left most lane was barely usable where the new lanes merge back to the old lanes....they were doing some work on it tonight, so maybe it will actually work properly in the morning.
Cold weather last night delayed the concrete from curing. We've had the warmest weather in record all season, and the night they need to pour, its colder than hell.
Welcome to roadway construction, sorry folks.

I knew I shouldn't trust a bridge that uses a free email service.
Seeing it on the other side of the road, it seemed better this morning. It seemed like all three lanes were flowing fine.
I'll say this - that is one of the most complex projects in a long time here; I'd argue parts of it are more complex then I-95 and I-10. If that is the only hiccup during the construction, hats off to them,
Traffic was much easier this morning and possibly better than the previous road configuration.

Yep, it drove fine this morning. Overall I think this project has gone really well considering all of the constraints they're working with. There are a bunch of people that constantly bitch about construction but this project has been sorely needed for a long time. Adding the third SB lane and the interchange at Atlantic are huge.

This wouldnt happen with trains ;)
It was smooth sailing into downtown this morning and yea, it seems like traffic was flowing better than it was on the old portion. And this is just the separate feeder lanes for the downtown bridges. Yesterday was a hiccup for sure.
I recall when the new Fuller Warren bridge was being built and part of it opened up (it was still only two lanes each way) people were complaining because "that new bridge opened and traffic ain't any better" when really it was only half done. Same is true for this.
Now I was starting to feel sad for a moment because there's only a year left on this project, but the I-10/95 interchange project should kick off soon right? *whew* didn't want to drive through downtown and not see road construction!
