Title: As Shipyards project continues to stall, what does that mean for the USS Adams?
Post by: thelakelander on November 16, 2015, 05:32:54 PM
QuoteLast November, CEO Joe Snowberger was preparing for the arrival of the USS Adams, saying the ship he plans to turn into a museum would "arrive any day now."

A year later, Snowberger and Jacksonville are still waiting.

The Adams, which the Navy has agreed to release and bring from Philadelphia to Jacksonville, was on track to arrive this past winter. The museum organization has raised all the funds it needs to bring the ship to Jacksonville and begin its refurbishment, although the organization is raising additional funds that will allow for higher levels of work.

But the project was delayed when Shad Khan announced his plans for the Shipyards — where the Adams museum was planned. Between Khan's announcement, the city's process to approve the project and a change in mayoral administration, the Adams has been in limbo.
