Grand Opening Tomorrow

Jacksonville, Fla. – The favorite local barbecue restaurant is back open and will celebrate with a grand opening tomorrow from 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.  It is now Fred Cotten's Landmark BBQ located at 17th and Main Street.

Local northside resident and Jacksonville native John Hays is leasing the property and has renovated the building. His daughter Megan and friend Melanie Dosztan operate the restaurant serving the famous barbecue with its original sauce.

According to Hays, he says it bothered him to see the abandon building and no smoke coming out of the barbecue pit – this corner looked so empty. He did his homework to see if he could secure the original sauce, cooks and the famous salad dressing. Once he knew he could bring back the sauce and salad dressing, he engaged in renovating the building and opened his doors to a soft opening a few weeks ago.

The menu has some of the same traditional items such as the rib sandwich, pork sandwich, chicken plate and of course ribs. They have also added several sides including collard greens, baked beans, corn on the cob and macaroni and cheese.  "We are going to figure out what our customers like the best in these next few months and then tailor to their needs," Hays says. "Our goal is to continue to provide the best barbecue in town," he added.

The hours of operation are Monday through Saturday from 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.
