Title: Back to the Future Day
Post by: spuwho on October 16, 2015, 12:10:23 PM
For those who can remember....when Marty McFly went to the future in movie #2, the date he set on the flux capacitor was October 21, 2015.

As we are aware that date is fast approaching.

Do you remember the first thing Marty saw in the city square?

It was a news update displaying in 3D that the Cubs won the World Series. Now here we are in 2015 and who is playing in the NLCS?

Marty's anti-grav skateboard came out earlier this year when an engineer at Lexus, obsessed with the idea figured out how to do it using super cooled magnets and an all metal skating surface. You Tube videos highlight the experience.

Marty walked into the soda shop and got not a "Pepsi Free", but a "Pepsi Perfect". Pepsi has announced that they are releasing in limited numbers a special batch of "Pepsi Perfect" in honor of the day.

Need more? Marty got ahold of and wore Nike's with automatic laces in the future. Rumors are very high that Nike will display (but not sell) a pair of shoes with working automatic laces.

Universal will be celebrating the day by having a digital showing of all 3 movies in sequence at theaters throughout the country.

Toyota sponsored an ad (that will come out on October 21) where Doc and Marty will present the new Mirai, a hydrogen fuel cell powered car. After all isnt that what the Mr Fusion needed on Doc's Delorean? Hydrogen? When the advertising agency who pitched for the account realized the coincidence, it was like a snowball and the ad nearly made itself. The actors will reprise their roles in Doc's "lab".

Until then, keep your space time continuum in order!

'Blind with rage': Pepsi Perfect shortage infuriates 'Back to the Future' fans

 http://www.cnet.com/news/perceived-pepsi-perfect-shortage-infuriates-back-to-the-future-fans/  (http://www.cnet.com/news/perceived-pepsi-perfect-shortage-infuriates-back-to-the-future-fans/)

Social media erupts with the ire of fans who fear they missed out on their one opportunity to order a little piece of "Back to the Future Part 2"

"Back to the Future" fans had hoped to be sipping a Pepsi Perfect by now, but most of them are making sad eyes at their computers after facing a fast sellout of a special release of the bottles.

Fans have been waiting for this day ever since the 1989 sequel, when Marty McFly and Doc Brown arrived in the future on October 21, 2015. In honor of the film, Pepsi decided to make 6,500 limited-edition bottles of Pepsi Perfect available.

Pepsi Perfect makes a cameo appearance at an '80s-theme cafe in the future. Fans got extra-excited about the prospect of owning it because it feels both iconic and attainable (selling for $20.15, about £13, AU$28). The release date? October 21, 2015, naturally.

Now imagine the stress when Back to the Futurites discovered that some of the Pepsi Perfect bottles went on sale early and that other people had snapped them up. Actually, you don't have to imagine it. Here's a selection of what they said:

Amazon reviewer Pissed AF wrote: "I am SO upset!! This didn't even pop up in the search! And you released it a whole hours early? Are you kidding me?????????" This is currently the top most-helpful review on the Pepsi Perfect Amazon page.

Twitter user Paul Brown shared a GIF of his failed attempts to buy Pepsi Perfect. "Nothing makes sense and I'm blind with rage," he reports.

Shawn Caple tweeted this message: "If I had a time machine I would go back and tell Robert Zemeckis to make it a Coke Perfect."

The lady is singing on the Cubs, but Nike came through yesterday, and for a good cause as well.
