Hi we are coming from Daytona early Sunday morning to shoot the bridge downtown, does any one know if the city is lit up well? and where is the best location to park?
Thanks
Donna

The South Bank and Riverwalk facing Downtown Jacksonville between M.O.S.H Museum of Science History and Friendship fountain and the School board Building to me is better then parking in Downtown Jacksonville and walking over a Bridge. Here is a map I'm talking about. https://www.google.com/maps/place/Downtown,+Jacksonville,+FL/@30.3193026,-81.6567764,395m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m2!3m1!1s0x88e5b719b14a88d9:0xc014d3ec7956afc!6m1!1e1

The responses are assuming you are shooting the Main (blue) bridge.  Of course, Jax has 7 bridges, with 5 of them connecting direct to downtown.  Each presents its own unique opportunities so you may be tempted to expand your mission when you arrive.

Needless to say, time of day will dictate much of where it's best to locate.  In the mid day AM, I would think you would want to be east of your subject; in the mid day PM, to the west side.  If you shoot at end of day and want a sunset in your background, back to the east side.  West side for the sunrise :).  I agree Southbank is better if you want to incorporate most of the skyline for the Main or Acosta Bridges.   Don't forget to consider standing directly under a bridge or on top of one, too.

By example, I have great shots of the Hart (green) bridge, day and night, from east and west sides, north and south banks.

If you wish to consider all reasonable perspectives and you are lugging some camera gear, I see you moving your vehicle more than once.  If you are traveling light, parking in one spot and walking over the Main and Acosta bridges to both sides of the river can be a rewarding experience.  Parking on weekends or in the evenings after 6 PM around any of the bridges is generally not hard unless downtown has a Jag's game or major event going on.

Have fun and good luck.
