Title: Jacksonville's Citi operations to hire 500 more workers
Post by: thelakelander on August 21, 2015, 06:19:35 AM
Good news!

QuoteOfficials with Citi's consumer banking and credit services based in Jacksonville announced Thursday that the company will create 500 new jobs in the next year.

Citi's operations in Jacksonville already employ about 3,500 people and the 500 new Jacksonville positions will go to support the company's North American services, the company said.

"Our goal is to enable growth and progress for our customers, our employees and in the communities where we operate," said Matt Jenkins, Citi's president of Jacksonville operations. "We've been part of the Jacksonville community for 25 years and Citi's presence in Florida dates back to 1908."

Why is it only news when they plan to "hire back" the same numbers they let go earlier?

Hiring = Good PR
Layoffs = Bad PR

BAC went through another round of layoffs this week. A few came out of the Jacksonville offices.

In other "news", I've heard that Optum plans to hire 40-50 Pharmacists & 100+ Pharmacy Technicians in Jacksonville this year - any insight there?  Seems like that has more substance as those are professional roles being added.

When did Citi let go of 500 people?

Sounds like a wonderful place to work, with the threat to be outsourced everyday.

Wow. That anonymous website of people complaining about their job says a lot.
