Metro Jacksonville visits the downtown of a small town community just outside of our city limits: Macclenny.

The Glen St. Mary Nursery is also a neat place to visit, just west of Macclenny. They did some of the earlier azalea breeding and now use part of the grounds for weddings.

It looks a little like a ghost town in the photos, is that the case?
Years ago, a girlfriend of mine had a job taking pics of properties that were for sale (for a magazine). I used to drive and she would take the pictures and log the info. Anyway, we had a bunch to do once out in Maclenny, so I got to drive around and see the area.
There was one development out there that had its own airstrip. Each house had a hangar and the homeowners shared the runway. I have no idea where that is located (or if it's even still there).

This could be it... certainly not a development and if it is an actual airstrip it is also used as a cow pasture...

I live in MacClenny. It's nice to see it featured in a positive light! It looks like these pics may have been taken on an early Sunday morning perhaps? The downtown streets are usually pretty busy during the week, especially in the evenings when people are on their way home from work in Jax.

That airstrip is called Cuyler Field, which is in the Cuyler community about ten miles northeast of MacClenny off of County Road 125 North. ;)

Glen St. Mary Nurseries is a beautiful place. It's Florida's oldest operating plant nursery and contains some awesome, historic homes. Maybe it can be featured sometime in the future! :)

They were taken on a Sunday afternoon around 4 or so.

I like to eat fried Quail and there is a restaurant in Macclenny called "Pier Six Seafood & Steak House" but also has Quail. It's priced right and is very good. :) https://goo.gl/maps/BgtKG
