QuoteElkins Constructors LLC is doing $898,500 of work on the Cowford Chophouse in Downtown Jacksonville.
Elkins pulled a building permit July 24 for the work on the historic Bostwick Building at 101 Bay St. E. It involves removing interior walls, floors and roof structure, underpinning the southwest foundation and adding temporary bracing walls.

Sounds like you wouldn't make a very good business owner.
They are putting a lot of money into this restaurant, but with grants and other forms of assistance they can bring it down to a reasonable level. If they can stay busy I'm sure they will make back their investment. If not, they'll have a beautifully restored building that they can sell to recoup some cost.
Excited to see the finished product. Beautiful building which I know they will do right. Excellent location that should get a ton of visibility, especially during football season. I think they will be fine.
Does anyone know why the entire corner of the building is missing? Was that planned?

I'm glad someone finally asked the question lol... I go by there every day and have been seeing it come down piece by piece and was shocked to see how far they went. I'd love to know the answer to that as well.

The Cowford Chophouse Hi Nick, yes, we are reusing the old brick. We have to take down this corner in order to re-pour a new foundation to stabilize the building. We are then going to re-build the corner using the same brick and adhering to historic guidelines.
I was thinking that had to be planned, since it was removed so slowly. Thanks for the answer.
Makes sense, the corner obviously had major settling issues from the visible change in roofline angle and huge crack down the walls. The investment these guys are putting into that building is impressive to say the least.
