Title: AshleyMadison.com Hacked.
Post by: TheCat on July 20, 2015, 11:55:48 AM
QuoteAshleyMadison—tagline "Life Is Short. Have An Affair"—is an online site that facilitates cheating among its 37 million users. It's a service founded on confidentiality and privacy, which now seems to have all of its data in the hands of hackers. They're demanding the company take down the site, or they're going to out a lot of adulterers.

The hackers, going by the name "The Impact Team," posted a small sample of sensitive data (since taken offline) stolen from Avid Life Media, the company that owns AshleyMadison, along with other hookup sites Cougar Life and Established Men. The data was accompanied by a statement, demanding the takedown of AshleyMadison and Established Men. If that doesn't happen, the hackers are threatening to leak the full details—names, addresses, sexual fantasies—of AshleyMadison's 37 million users.

Speaking to security blog KrebsOnSecurity, ALM Chief Executive Noel Biderman confirmed the hack, condemned the "criminal act," and said the company was working hard to have the data taken down.

Hackers Threaten to Expose 37 Million Cheating AshleyMadison Users

Impact Team message, via KrebsOnSecurity

The Impact Team's beef with Avid seems to lie with the Full Delete feature offered by AshleyMadison—a $19 service that allows users of the site to erase their profile, and all accompanying information. According to The Impact Team, that service is a lie—it claims that although profile information is removed, credit card details, including real name and billing address—remain online.

That frames the hackers as the good guys, campaigning against a lying company; of course, a trove of personal information, including credit card details, can be worth serious money to the right people.

It goes without saying that this is about the worst data leak imaginable—not only does it have the usual problems of identity fraud, but if the full list of AshleyMadison's users hits the internet, that's a lot of adulterers outed.

This wont mean much unless some Congressman or Government official turns up on the list. Then all efforts by law enforcement will be engaged to hush the hackers.

It would be funny if the info dribbles out over time, but the Feds will catch em before that happens. Look for the one time dump instead.

Most serial adulterers use fake names with VISA gift cards to pay. I would reason the worse "offenders" have little to fear.

I figured someone might ask. I used to work with a bunch of attorneys, many in family law. Some people go to great lengths to keep their private life, well....private, until they are caught.

Then the tools to obscure are numerous once revealed.

Say it ain't so....

QuoteFamily Values Activist Josh Duggar Had a Paid Ashley Madison Account

In 2013, conservative reality TV star Josh Duggar—of TLC's 19 Kids and Counting fame—was named the executive director of the Family Research Council, a conservative lobbying group in D.C. which seeks "to champion marriage and family as the foundation of civilization, the seedbed of virtue, and the wellspring of society." During that time, he also maintained a paid account on Ashley Madison, a web site created for the express purpose of cheating on your spouse.

In May 2015, Duggar was forced to resign after In Touch Weekly reported that he had molested five young girls (four of whom were his own sisters) beginning in 2002. When the accusations became public, the family went into crisis mode, insisting that Josh had reformed and that the media covering the claims was intent on "exploiting women."

Josh himself took to his family's Facebook page to absolve himself of his past indiscretions and assure the world he was back on a righteous path. And his wife, for her part, certainly seemed to believe it.

But data released online in the wake of the hack on Ashley Madison's servers certainly seems to show otherwise. Someone using a credit card belonging to a Joshua J. Duggar, with a billing address that matches the home in Fayetteville, Arkansas owned by his grandmother Mary—a home that was consistently shown on their now-cancelled TV show, and in which Anna Duggar gave birth to her first child—paid a total of $986.76 for two different monthly Ashley Madison subscriptions from February of 2013 until May of 2015.

I've had a look at the 37 million line file of email addresses (Really 36,394,996, but who's counting)...

More than a few email addresses corresponding to local government & educational institutions. People have really bad judgement in using their work emails for personal stuff, especially something like this, yeesh.

Probably thought using their work email would be safer since their spouses would be less likely to have access to it.

Hey - here's a cool business idea - offer free web mail ... oh wait that already exists   ::)

Josh Duggar was easy pickings. Wait until they find someone with a lot more to lose.

Well he fessed up today:

QuoteNEW YORK — Calling himself "the biggest hypocrite ever," ex-reality star Josh Duggar has apologized for a "secret addiction" to pornography and for cheating on his wife.
"While espousing faith and family values, I have secretly over the last several years been viewing pornography on the internet and this became a secret addiction and I became unfaithful to my wife," he said in a statement posted on the family's website Thursday.

The statement was later edited to remove the reference to pornography and a reference to an earlier scandal in which Duggar molested four of his sisters and a baby sitter.

The statement was apparently spurred by Duggar's name appearing among millions exposed in a data breach of customers of the Ashley Madison website, an online service that caters to people looking to cheat on their spouses. Leaked data showed that a Josh Duggar whose address was the same as the reality TV star was a member of AshleyMadison.com from December 2012 to October 2014.

In his statement, Duggar did not address whether he had used AshleyMadison.com, nor did he detail the exact nature of his marital infidelity.

Good understanding lady. Of course it's her fault he was on AshleyMadison. Tiger needs a lady like this, so he can get his golf game back on track. ;)

Go ahead and renew that account Josh. It's all good.

QuoteAnna Duggar partially blames herself for her husband Josh's admitted infidelity, it has emerged.

The 27-year-old - who shares four children with Josh - will likely 'on some level.... absorb some of the blame' for her spouse's cheating and addiction to online porn, a Duggar family insider says.

And she will 'no way' leave Josh for his actions - which the 19 Kids and Counting star confessed to after he was named as one of the 37million spouses to allegedly have Ashley Madison accounts.

QuoteIf Anna has been adhering to her mother-in-law Michelle's top marriage tip, she will have said 'yes' to sex whenever her husband has wished to have it - regardless of how tired she may have been.

'Be available. Anyone can fix him lunch, but only one person can meet that physical need of love that he has,' Michelle, 49, told TODAY Moms in an interview last year, citing a friend's advice.

'You always need to be available when he calls.' Both Michelle and Jim Bob said the advice has been a 'lifesaver' in their 31-year marriage.

Viral Christian Pregnancy YouTuber Sam Rader Had a Paid Ashley Madison Account

The popular Christian vlogger Sam Rader—best known for "surprising" his wife with her own positive pregnancy test in a viral video—had a paid account on the cheating website Ashley Madison in 2013, the Daily Mail reports. Sam is a leader in a new industry of online evangelism, posting daily videos of his upstanding, Jesus-loving family for hundreds of thousands of subscribers.

Sam, whose new "manager" told the Daily Mail from a vlogger conference in Seattle that "we are not going to comment on this right now," has done such a good job marketing his Christian family values on YouTube that he quit his job this month to vlog full time. (We reached out to Sam for comment but have not heard back.) Though his latest pregnancy stunt video was controversial, Sam has built a real, loyal following preaching the bible and vlogging about wanting to be a "good man" to his wife of almost six years, Nia—the kind of "man I want [my daughter] to marry."

Perhaps Sam believes that being a "good man" in a marriage is consistent with seeking extramarital sexual partners online. Or perhaps he simply fell short of his goal in September 2013, when he created a paid account on Ashley Madison, a dating site created for the purpose of cheating your spouse. News of the Ashley Madison hack broke on July 15. Instead of keeping his head down, Sam went ahead with his viral pregnancy stunt three weeks later, propelling his family to new heights of Christian vlogging fame.

The Daily Mail notes that someone using a credit card belonging to a "Samuel Rader," with a billing address that matches the Raders' home in Terrell, Texas—a home that is featured in almost every video Sam posts—made several payments on Ashley Madison beginning in September 2013, including two payments of $189. The domain of the email address used to create the account, "becausethatswhy.com", was registered by Samuel Rader in 2011. (PerezHilton.com also notes the email evidence.)

Sam, who has now made it is full time job to preach Christian family values online, is not the first "good man" to break commandment number seven. Family values activist and former 19 Kids and Counting star Josh Duggar had a paid Ashley Madison account, too.

Maybe so but a cheater is a cheater. And when you have two gentlemen that believe they're Christian look someplace else for SEX in my eyes famous or not. They're Hippocrates preaching the word of god out of one side of their mouths. Then with the other having SEX with someone else because their wife's just don't keep them happy in bed.

There were a lot of folks in the White House, Congress, etc that were reported by the AP. They questioned some folks and asked what they would do if blackmailed, but have refrained from naming names since there were no laws broken. Some have investigated whether there were certain rules broken, however, for accessing the site while on taxpayer time, but it seems to be pretty vague in that regard.

QuoteCasey Anthony Prosecutor Jeff Ashton Admits Visiting Ashley Madison Site

Florida state attorney Jeff Ashton, known for his role as a prosecutor in the Casey Anthony trial, admitted today to "indulging a curiosity" by joining the Ashley Madison cheating website.

Ashton, who is married, apologized to his family and the public at a press conference this afternoon.

"Two years ago, I was curious about the Ashley Madison website and I used my personal credit card to sign up for the site," he said.

Ashton said his involvement with Ashley Madison, a website for married people seeking affairs, was limited to online. He said he indulged a curiosity by joining the site, but claimed he never met anyone in person and no laws were broken.

Ashton said he was "so curious how this could exist."
