I so wish this were a joke.

National campaign hoping to dispel myths about the Islamic region (http://www.news4jax.com/news/national-campaign-hoping-to-dispel-myths-about-the-islamic-region/34124648)

QuoteJACKSONVILLE, Fla. -
#Who is Muhammad?

It's one of three signs that can be seen driving through Jacksonville and they've got people curious... so much, that the organization behind the signs need more people to handle the volume of calls they're receiving.

The group is The Islamic Circle of North America, and it's a national campaign with nearly 80 billboards throughout big cities in the US hoping to dispel myths about the region... and educate.

News4Jax spoke with a man who said the Islamic religion is seen often times in a negative light because of things happening around the world but he said the group would like to change that.

There's three billboards throughout Jacksonville and according to the organization behind them more than 500 thousand people will see them each week this month alone.

The billboards instruct people to call a hotline to get their questions answered about the Islamic religion., and they have received thousands of calls

Mohammed Ilyas, the regional president for the group, Islamic Circle of North America, said its looking for more volunteers to help answer calls and the signs have only been up about a month.

"Mostly they call about, if they have questions, they want to visit the Islamic center, they want to meet with the Muslims, they want to get a free copy of the Koran, or any other Islamic literature. Just to visit the Islamic center," said Mohammad Ilyas.

Ilyas said the national campaign is to help clear up myths about Islamic beliefs and the Profit Muhammed's message he said many people associate the religion with terrorist groups and negativity... but with more than 1.4 billion Muslims in the world.... he says it's time they educate people about the misconceptions.

"I don't control my color, I don't control my language, I don't control my ethnicity, but I control myself, my character, my conscious, I control my relationship with the other. I think if we change our criteria on how we judge people that's how we can establish justice," said Ilyas.

The local Islamic center offers several services to people in need in the community.... they have a free clinic that helps with lab tests, X-rays and doctor consultations as well as a shelter for battered woman and a food pantry for anyone who needs help. http://www.icnef.org/

Basic grammar error "there's three billboards" vice "there are three billboards". Also sounds more like the interviewee is saying conscience, not conscious. I'll give them the questionable transliteration of Muhammed.

An intern typed the story, and no one edits anything?

I'm so glad that I'm not the only one.

Just yesterday, I closed the ap and quit reading once the reporter mentioned the subject's 'forth' DUI arrest.

Yesterday 7/12/2015 before going over to the UNF Library to do research. I stopped at St Johns town center to shop for shoes. I also saw a piece of Delta Airlines equipment on the back of a flatbed semi trailer. I stopped to get photos of this old Delta Airlines Stair Truck. It looked so cool while I took my photos a truck driver got out of his truck and asked what I was doing. I told him I was taking photos of the Delta Truck. He said OK. He told me he was moving it to South Florida for a customer. And he told me it was from 1985 the truck was a Ford 350 but to me the stairs looked a lot older. He said to move the stairs up to the plane you have to hand crank the stairs to the plane. He showed me the inside of the pickup truck. And I saw the crank and the sunroof that looked as if it was cut out with a jigsaw. We then started to talk I asked him where he was from? He said he was born in Turkey but also lived in Russia before he came to AMERICA. I told him I was glad he got out of Russia that Putin was a dangerous man. We talked some more about this and that. He then asked if i could take him to the Apple store.  He was having problems with his phone, I said no problem. Now I haven't taking a stranger in my car since the 1980's but I trusted him besides it was only across the street to the Apple store he was in my car no more then 10 minutes top because of traffic and stop lights. I talked to him about religion "it was Sunday morning" and he said he was a Muslim like duh? Being born in Turkey. I told him I'm a Christian and from the Methodist religion. I told him I didn't care what religion people went with as long as it's for doing good. I also told him I have known people that call themselves CHRISTIANS that screw around on their spouses or employees. Then go to church believing what they are doing outside of church is A OK? He agreed I dropped him off at Apple and said take care and I then drove off towards UNF. :)

^ Also, is it suppose to say "religion" instead of "region"?

I bet 'Cutter' is funding this....a small donation to WJXT.

I bet there's a theological explanation for blaming infidels for not having drinking water in the desert

Just to be clear I have no issue with the actual topic, just the horrifying sloppy writing. Went through and bolded inconsistencies, blatant errors in red.
