In just 90 days, an Atlantic Beach developer's project described as the " Disney of Action Sports" could be one step closer to becoming a reality.
Over the next three months, Xero Gravity Action Sports, developed by local businessman Larry Walshaw, should secure the capital partners it needs to fund the $313 million mega complex in Orlando, Walshaw said. The project includes not only venues for nearly every action sport under the sun but also a hotel, themed restaurants and other resort amenities.
"It doesn't happen overnight," Walshaw told the Business Journal in a phone interview while en route home from Orlando meetings. "We remain patient and diligent and all the individuals and companies we've met with in the last few months received us very warmly.... A number of entities have made offers, but we want to choose our partners carefully, just like a marriage."
The project — which Walshaw originally wanted in Jacksonville but was told the market was too small to support his idea— is slated to be developed on a 75-acre site in Osceola County.

Too bad what? That it couldn't happen in Jax or that it's happening at all?
Seems like it would have been a cool attraction for Jax.
Yeah I agree. I can see why he would find Orlando a safer bet though...especially since he needs to acquire funding...
