Title: FCCJ to offer four year Computer Networking program starting Fall '08
Post by: downtownparks on June 12, 2008, 03:42:01 PM
Looks like FCCJ is adding another 4 year program to their curriculum. Reports are flooding in that this will work out well for them, as they are rumored to be looking to make the change into a four year school.

very cool news for what i think is the nation's current largest community college.  or at least it was a few years ago.  i think they also have a 4 year business degree...i have a friend who mentioned going through this program.

As they pick up more 4-year degrees won't they eventually qualify for university status?

I think thats the eventual plan. I know they have a bunch of 4 year programs in the works. This has been talked about for years, but in the last two years, they have actually started rolling out the 4 year programs, as well, FCCJ north campus has become the hub of nurse training in the area. FCCJ is doing pretty remarkable things.

They are definitely a huge asset.  Something else they may consider is port specific training to handle the influx of new jobs.
