The owners of Candy Apple Cafe & Cocktails plan to open a second location at 220 Riverside and Unity Plaza:
Quote220 Riverside has a new dining tenant. The owners of Candy Apple Cafe & Cocktails in Sweet Pete's candy destination downtown have said they will be opening a restaurant in the mixed-used development on Riverside Avenue later this year.
It's the second restaurant that's been confirmed in the development's retail strip, but details have been scarce on each. The concept and names have not been released for either.

Can't say that I'm super excited for this unless they manage to have a candy-shop storefront as well.
I've eaten at Pete's numerous times. While the food is OK, the menu isn't exactly inspiring, and I don't see it as a huge crowd-drawing restaurant without the candy store attraction.
Just my $.02...
Yeah they catered our wedding a few years ago and it was awesome. So we were really excited to go to the restaurant. It wasn't bad by any means but wasn't as good as we were expecting/hoping.
More shrimp n gritS for just under 20 dollars....more chocolate smothered bacon....
More of the same old...
Yeah Liz and Jen do great catering and they also run the cafe in the Cummer. I could be mistaken but I almost feel like I heard they were involved with 220 Riverside even before they were signed onto Sweet Pete's. In any case they sure are very concentrated in that 1.5 mile stretch from Cummer to Sweet Pete's.
I'm happy that more locals have been selected for 220 Riverside. With that said, I hope they create a new concept to compliment their other ventures. I just don't see in the long run two Candy Apple Cafes and two Burrito Galleries being able to both be profitable when there is one location in the core and one in Brooklyn.
I don't like the location being so close to the DT location. The beach might be better.
I don't think it's gonna be the same concept. Cummer Cafe and Candy Apple aren't the same.

That could be a good thing.
