Hendricks Avenue to close for RR crossing rebuiild June 28 to July 1
Thu, Jun 18, 2015 @ 1:19 pm
Replacement of a railroad crossing will force the closure of Hendricks Avenue south of Nira Street from 7 a.m. Sunday, June 28, through about 7 p.m. Wednesday, July 1, according to the Florida Department of Transportation.
Florida East Coast Railroad will replace the existing railroad crossing with a concrete unit designed to hold up better under heavy traffic and crews will resurface the area once it is replaced.
About 14,600 vehicles travel this section of Hendricks Avenue daily. Those drivers headed south on Hendricks Avenue will be detoured onto Nira Street, San Marco Boulevard and Lasalle Street. Drivers headed north on Hendricks will be detoured onto Cedar Street, San Marco Boulevard and Nira Street. Police will assist with the road closure and detour.
The road reopening date could change due to rain or other conditions.

Wow, I had no idea so many cars went over that intersection daily. The San Marco Blvd crossing is pretty beat up too.

Yeah, that annoys the hell out of me too.
At least this is just for a few days... the worst with the bridge closures is that they seemed to close them on a whim, sometimes even when they said they would.
^Yeah, that's very true. The bridge thing sucks as I've almost entirely given up on biking to downtown from where I live. This isn't nearly that bad.
