Title: Broke. The City Discontinues Contract to secure Abandoned Buildings, Structures
Post by: stephendare on June 10, 2008, 01:57:10 PM
And now comes word that the city is having to discontinue its contracts with various companies that secure and maintain abandoned properties owned by the city throughout the area.

Unknown is whether or not the city will now be performing these services itself or whether or not its inventory of buildings will just have to face vandals and the elements all by themeselves.

Wonder what this means for the downtown properties?

Why doesn't the city just sell them?

who are some of these contracted companies?  i would assume the Dept of Public Works would be responsible.  a phone call to them might clear this up.  smells kind of fishy.
