Governor Rick Scott has been playing a duplicitous game of gay chicken with the Federal government for a couple of years now on the subject of Obamacare. A game which has consequences. It turns out that pandering to his tea party base while serving the interests of the private medical networks that made him into a billionaire has a cost. That cost was presented recently when Secretary Burwell refused to play bait and switch with the Governor anymore. Jacksonville will be one of the worst victims of this wholly avoidable funding catastrophe as it faces the possibility that Shands Hospital will close its doors.

It's *UF Health* hospital.
And I guess it's good that Brown is finally acknowledging the looming disaster of funding the hospital after four years and four budgets. Better late than never. Just hope it's not too late.
As I say, it's good that Brown is finally acknowledging this problem.

Mayor Brown is NOT the person who needs to acknowledge the crisis that is pending, it's Rick Scott. Hospitals admin., legislators, legal experts, and many others have tried to get Scott to acknowledge LIP is coming to an end. Rick Scott pretends its not happening. LIP were temporary and Rick Scott knows that, but his arrogance and stubbornness to accept Medicare expansion is having an impact on every single person in the state of Florida. Lenny Curry is silent on this because he is scared to tell Republicans, we need AHC! Mayor Brown is doing a hail mary in a game, Rick Scott has excluded anyone else in. Mayor Brown should be admired for speaking truth to the tea party crazy peeps like Rick Scott. Health care for Americans is needed and the majority of Americans want this. I'm sick that Rick Scott is putting people lives in danger for his stupid ass 'cause' of not accepting federal money. Rick Scott can do more damage in a month than Alvin Brown or Curry can do in 4 years.

QuoteBut this is the state that Lenny Curry's judgement and leadership gave us. Thanks Lenny.
LOL, your just still bitter over the voters picking Voldermort over your gal Alex Sink.
Scott and the GOP House are acting like spoiled brats. And now to hold increases in education spending and tax cuts hostage because he isn't getting his way is despicable. They have known all along that this day would come. He truly is more horrible than I ever imagined.
If Brown could come away with a win for Jacksonville and get some sort of funding deal, it would be a hilarious slap in the face to our pathetic governor.

LOL, its great humor tonight, Brown can't even get his Pension deal passed which will save lots of $3 bills for 30 gazzillion years, let alone get a budget of his own passed.
Quoteyeah. I think most rational people would prefer someone who didn't have to pay back 1.2 billion stolen dollars to the fund for old people's health care.
Crystal Ball time with Scott and Brown, who knows, maybe the future would have been different for both the state and city with different leaders. Probably more boring...
uh ... Stephen, I think you've wandered into the wrong thread with your Sheriff debate posts ... :-)
