QuoteA former high-level Crowley employee is walking away after being cleared of charges of price-fixing and bid-rigging of cargo traveling between Puerto Rico and the U.S.
The once vice president of price and yield management, Thomas Farmer, a resident of Jacksonville Beach, was charged with the crime in 2013, and faced a month-long trial in San Juan.

Crowley lands a deal to build a pier in San Juan, Puerto Rico
QuoteJacksonville-based Crowley Maritime Inc. is deepening its commitments to Puerto Rico with a contract to build a $48.5-million pier there.
The contract announced Monday is for a new pier at the Isla Grande Terminal in San Juan with the Puerto Rico Ports Authority. The contract calls for a 900-foot-long concrete pier along with associated dredging. The pier's primary purpose will be to dock Crowley's two new liquefied natural gas-powered ships.
Construction on the project is expected to begin within months after Crowley secures permits from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and completion on the pier is expected within two years, a Crowley news release said.
