What is happening in Riverside that JSO has presence for hours without SWAT team?  Legal or illegal searches/

From a resident's FB:

"...a gunman, one of your neighbors, is barricaded in his apartment possibly with a hostage"

What an ironic question.

I live one street over, the back of my building backs up to that apartment complex. Some guy got in a fight with his ex girlfriend and pulled out an assault rifle, a bunch of people were at a pool party and saw it. They called the cops who showed up pretty much instantly, preventing him from going wherever he was going to go, so he shut the door and is now stuck in there and won't come out. So far they're waiting and watching. But that's what's going on.

Looks like a suicide after domestic problem. Interesting that you blamed the cops.

Where did I blame the cops? They did a great job and were there within two minutes of the report of a guy with an assault rifle. You don't seriously think I am suggesting a guy with an assault rifle, engaged in a domestic dispute, and who was clearly suicidal, should have been allowed to leave with his weapon do you?

QuoteWhy is JSO holding Riverside hostage?

Geography skills are in order, as only a small part, very small part of Riverside was affected. Its not like 5 points was affected, nor was the King Street dining area affected, and certainly not St. Vincents, although ambulances would have had to take the actual Riverside Avenue to get around the St. Johns avenue blockade.

Of course we all know the news people would have called this "JSO holding Westside hostage", since this happened West of downtown.

Chris I think Jumpinjack was responding to the "Legal or illegal searches" comment in the first post in the thread... and the subject of the thread for that matter.
