The Orlando Magic and Miami Heat are scheduled to play an NBA exhibition game at Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena on Saturday, Oct. 18. Tipoff is 7:30 p.m
The Magic, which went 52-30 and reached the Eastern Conference semifinals this season, features 22-year-old All-Star center Dwight Howard, who's known for high-flying dunks and shot-blocking skills.
The Heat, which won the NBA title in 2006, struggled mightily this season, finishing with the league's worst record at 15-67, but it has All-Star guard Dwyane Wade as a centerpiece. Miami also holds the No. 2 overall pick in this month's NBA Draft and is expected to pick Kansas State forward Michael Beasley or Memphis guard Derrick Rose.
Tickets for the exhibition game go on sale Monday and range from $10 to $115. They can be purchased through the Veterans Memorial Arena box office or Ticketmaster (353-3309) or www.ticketmaster.com

very cool. i'm sure you'll be there right Lake?
yep! I doubt Wade will play, but I can't pass up a chance to see my favorite NBA team play locally.
Good to have fellow Forrest HS grad Otis Smith back in Jacksonville too. He is doing a nice job as Magic GM.
