MIAMI – Tri-Rail has opened its new Miami Airport Station. Tri-Rail passengers will be able to access the airport with a short ride on a shuttle. The station had been closed for nearly four years during construction.

The commuter railroad opened the facility to passengers on April 5, Easter Sunday.

Tri-Rail schedules will be adjusted to include the additional stop, which will return to being the southernmost station on the 72-mile commuter rail route. Arrival times for the remaining stations will remain the same as in the current Tri-Rail schedule. The only affected times will be at the beginning of the northbound run for trains leaving the Miami Airport Station.

The Miami Central Station is an intermodal facility designed to accommodate several transportation connections. Tri-Rail will join Miami-Dade Transit's Metrorail and Metrobus service that already have access to the facility, along with the Rental Car Center and taxi service.

Anticipated future service includes Amtrak and Greyhound.

That sucks.  Too bad they couldn't have better integrated the station with the airport.

It's connected. This is the "shuttle."

^^Oh, okay.  I had envisioned something more like those buses that take you to the rental cars.
