But for those looking to support downtown (which is about everyone in this forum), be sure to make it to the Can-Doo Festival which starts @ noon on Saturday at Met Park. OAR is the headlining band and your ticket gets you into Everbank for the Armada's first regular season home game @ 730 pm. Should make for a helluva Saturday!

Will be attending the soccer game. Kind of disappointed that OAR is the headliner for this festival, though. There are way better, more relevant bands that appeal to a broad cross-section of the populace. Can't wait to see the game, though.
For what is essentially a free concert, your options are limited.
I'm not personally an OAR fan, at all. However, they are a relatively popular act for a small event like this and will surely draw some people to the festival and game.
I've never heard of OAR until now, thanks wiki; Ironically, they are from Rockville (MD) which is the name of the concert in Jax.
For the Baseball lovers the Miami Marlins will be playing the Suns at the ballpark as well starting at 2:30PM......I am making it an all day affair!
Baseball's never been hotter! :)
and the Sharks home opener is Friday night
80% chance of rain all day Saturday... Hopefully that doesn't happen. It might squash our chance at a record attendance.
When I was talking to the Armada ticket folk this morning, they said they were over 14,000 sold.
Hope the weather report is wrong ...
Yeah the weather report isn't looking too tasty at the moment. Is it just me, or does it seem like we've had much more rain and clouds so far this year than normal?
Found this. Going on at the Shipyards area tonight. http://www.lumitronixrun.com/home.html
Granted they have Veteran's United, and some of the other breweries are very good, but shouldn't this "beer" festival have more local brewers?
And FDOT is closing the Main St bridge until Sunday. Lovely.
Again, really?!? Guess we won't be taking our bikes then.
Yup. But don't worry, they're going to have the bridge open in time for FBC's Easter service.........

as a downtown resident, this has become so frustrating....this week the bridge has been shut down each evening starting at 6pm...simply ridiculous!
The game was a big success. Congrats to the new kids on the block:

The quickest goal. The largest crowd. Jacksonville's new North American Soccer League club couldn't have scripted a better start.
Jemal Johnson scored the fastest goal in NASL history after only 12 seconds, the first of several highlights for the Armada in a memorable 3-1 opening-day victory over FC Edmonton.
Home fans welcomed the new franchise with a league record attendance of 16,164 at EverBank Field, celebrating the first official match for a Jacksonville professional soccer club since 1999.

Suns beat the Marlins 14-8!
Only technically.
The Suns
are the Marlins. This was a true exhibition game. Uniforms were mixed across teams, and players batted out of order.
