Haha. After sweating for 15 seconds, I saw the date in the byline.
I forgot it was April first and my heart shriveled up for a second.

I was thinking for a minute, Jacksonville would never do anything to boost tourism. They hate tourists way too much. Lol.
When can we buy season tickets?!?
why only $220 million....are we aiming to be the lowest common denominator again?
If the city wasn't flat broke, it would actually be quite believable.
I knew it couldn't be real because it's too soon...Jacksonville won't jump on the ferris wheel bandwagon until about 2020.
LOL, You had me going too! The sarcasm should've been a clue. That was a good one MJ! But with our leadership, this may not be too far fetched. I hope none of them read this article, they might just try to make this happen. LOL
First Kanye West and Isis at the Venice Bienniale and now this. Just build it so I could jump from it.
First I was like NOOOOOO!!!, then like 20 seconds later, I realized it was April 1. Yall had me going though LOL
I thought the Orlando Eye was part of the gag too, until I Googled it! heh.
Good one - April Fools! What makes this believable is that the City of Jacksonville is historically famous for abusing tax dollars and abandoning their employees and taxpayers in favor of pet pork barrel spending!
hahahaha I was literally reading this out loud to my buddy and screaming as I read it in disbelief. Thank God you fooled me or I may have been the first person to jump off of this thing in protest had it actually been built.
You got me! ;D
I am shocked that Metro Jacksonville isn't madly in love with this idea. Your stories are always imploring government to do this or do that and so you are the biggest boosters I can see for Big Government. This project is Big Government at its best. Right up there with sports teams paid for by the taxpayers. Neither will benefit taxpayers at all, despite all the hoopla, smoke and mirrors. Then there was The Landing, which has largely fizzled. The bottom line is that if there is really long-term profit in something, the private sector will step up with the money. If not, they will come begging to government for your tax dollars. So stop whining.

Can you link to some of the stories that "boost" for "big government"? Really curious as to what I've been missing.
That was a good one, guys. I started to wonder if this "Not-Ferris Wheel" would eventually collapse into the river like portions of the parking area, because creating a foundation for this thing, though highly recommended, was eliminated from its budget. The reason being that the only company capable of building adequate foundations isn't from Jacksonville. When the inevitable collapse happens, all wouldn't be lost, we could create a tourist attraction called "Disaster Land". The cost for its maintenance would be minimal. The profits received from this attraction would be more than adequate to fund a reworked police, fire and city employee's pension fund which would offer even less to its lower level retirees. Solutions to many or our city's problems can be had with a little creative thinking, don't you think?

Jaxboy, I think you are on to something.
There is a subtle beauty to abandoned amusement parks...as long as you look at them through the righ photographic filter.
