Based strictly on this article, I'd be cool with Jake Gordon. Securing federal and private grants is tough and if he has the skill and tenacity that's the way to go. Abel is fine but he's already here and doing his thing.

Abel dedicates his personal time to advocacy, but his day job is making money for his bank and building relationships. I think he could probably accomplish quite a bit more if he was paid to represent DVI and downtown interests full time.
Gordon is definitely an interesting candidate though. UC San Diego undergrad and UPenn law degree. UC San Diego is ranked the #37 undergrad university in the country and Penn is the #7 ranked law school. His LinkedIn bio says he's trying to climb the highest point in all 50 states and has already done 46. Pretty clear sign he's a Type A go getter that makes things happen. Camden is also widely considered one of the worst cities in all of the US. He's no doubt used to working in difficult situations. I'd be curious to know what kind of a track record he has there and what he's accomplished beyond the grant that was mentioned in the article.

No doubt, but he's already a local asset. Kinda like having Ennis here. Sure he's working out of town half the week and traveling to other cities during much of his free time, but he's still a tremendous asset to Jax just being here the little bit that he is.
More candidates interviewed for the DVI executive director spot:

My understanding is they are interviewing 7 in total....there have been multiple meetings already for some....the plan is to then shortlist 2 and bring them to the whole DVI Board for final interviews.
