"Please place your seatback trays in the upright position... HA! HA! NOT! THIS IS A TRAIN!
Okay team, made connections with the "brass hats" in Washington, and we are looking for ways to set up either a FAM trip (familiarization) or GROUP trip from Jax to somewhere and back... Probably Orlando or Tampa. Trouble is I don't know who wants to go... It could fall on any day of the week but we'd have lots of notice as to time so y'all could make arrangements. Some may want to take wives, husbands and children so let me know your numbers and plans. They will be calling me back SOON.

FAM trips are usually free on the carrier.
GROUP trips are usually about 1/2 price of regular coach.

Our train would have full lounge, dining and sleeping car service. I sure we will use the lounge and dining cars and hope the sleeper has a vacancy (IF'y) so we can all take a Conductors look at the room. This could be great fun and Tampa would give us a chance to tour the TECO streetcar on the same day!

LOUNGE LIZARDS REJOYCE!
Light it up y'all...

A trip from Jax to Tampa would be best, because you could then take the streetcar between downtown and Ybor. The issues Tampa is currently going through is also more closely related to what we are dealing with in Jacksonville. A trip to Orlando would have you stepping off Amtrak a bit south of the pedestrian friendly core of that city. You can get in your car and drive down Philips Highway to get the same feel as what you'll get near Orlando's Amtrak station. Also, most people work during the weekdays, so a Saturday trip is probably best.
I'm in. And I'm sure I could rustle up some more interested bodies for a FAM trip.
If its a FAM trip I may be able to bring the Fam. That would make 5. If the whole family doesn't work out I may be able to work in the wife and I.
Count me in for 2 or 4 (depending on if anyone else brings kids).
Thanks for the legwork.
Riding to Tampa and back in one day is possible but it would be a long day (7am to 11pm).
Also, if the southbound train is running really late it will mess up the trip.
Sounds good other than that.
*raises hand*
+1 for me, +2 if the wife is in town when it happens
Did you guys end up doing this trip? This came along before I was on MJ almost fulltime or Id have ridden along just to make sure none of ya fell off the train ;) ...jk.. Id like to know how it went if it happened.
