Title: Religious Extremism and the Road to Civilization
Post by: urbanlibertarian on January 12, 2015, 09:41:36 AM
Opinion piece by Steve Chapman.  This first paragraph is pretty sweet.

QuoteSigmund Freud said the founder of civilization was the first person who hurled an insult instead of a rock. He was almost right. The true founder was the first person to respond to an insult with an insult of his own.

In case you haven't seen it, here is a link to the cover of the new issue of Charlie Hebdo that came out today.  I can't remember how to upload images.  Anyway, it's a simple drawing of Muhammad holding a "Je Suis Charlie" sign, and the caption says "All is Forgiven."  Very moving.
