When did this happen?? How did I miss this? Doesn't JIA/JAA love to make a big hoopla about new flights?? I've been anxiously anticipating this for years, ever since the US Air-AA merger opened up a ton of gates at Reagan.
Anyway, I just discovered that there are two daily direct flights each way on Jetblue between JAX and DCA...had to click on their cyber monday fare sale email to find out.
I'm so happy...no longer do I have to buy roundtrips just to have a reasonably-priced flight to DC. United and US Air one-ways were usually around $450 (roundtrips closer to $200)
Ha! I just googled it and found a few travel articles announcing the flights in mid-August. I was out of the country at the time...
Anyway, very happy! Even though I'm a little late to the party.
JBJ finally got the memo.
JetBlue adds non-stop service from JAX to Washington, D.C.QuoteFollowing demand for new flight destinations, JetBlue Airways Corp. is set to begin nonstop service between Jacksonville and Washington, D.C. The airline is offering two daily flights to Reagan National Airport starting Thursday. The addition of service to Washington, D.C., comes after JetBlue increased its presence in Jacksonville in October by adding more interstate flights, including a flight between Jacksonville and Fort Lauderdale.

Ha! Makes me feel better.
Although they probably knew and are just running a story ahead of the start of service.
Incidentally, did anyone notice all the $34 fares for Jax-FLL. Great for me but kinda hope the fares increase or eventually the service will be dropped I'm sure.
I think B6 will give this route time to develop. I came back from BOS last month and my flight from BOS-JAX then went on to FLL. Maybe this helps with their aircraft repositioning and scheduling and may benefit them more than just profits.
Another article about Jetblue adding DCA and FLL flights from Jax. But I've quoted the interesting part:
QuoteLaurence said there is potential to add more Jacksonville flights depending on how its current expansion goes — and that possibly adding West Coast flights to cities like Las Vegas or Long Beach, California could be on the table in the future.
