QuoteFor the first time in 30 years, almost every Jacksonville Transportation Authority bus route will be new.
"It's to make buses more frequent and more direct," JTA CEO Nat Ford said.
The new routes begin Dec. 1, and JTA said all routes will be free that week.
Ford said most of the routes passed through downtown, and now some don't to allow for faster commutes. For example, route 51 from Edgewood Avenue to the south west part of town used to take as long as two hours. Now Ford said that time is cut in half.
"Riders will not have to wait at transfer stations as long with these new routes," he said.

Where can we see the new routes effective Dec 1? The JTA website doesn't make it clear whether the system map is pre or post change.
Ok I found it. On the JTA homepage > Blueprint 2020 > Route Optimization > Service Changes
Wow...that's not simple.
Here's another map of the new system:

I should've included a links.

there's an icon at the top of a quick links section on the JTA home page that says click here for new schedules and maps. really easy to find. Surprised you missed it. it takes you directly to the new schedules page.

Yeah, I didn't notice it until after my first post. But I chose not to mention it because what I really wanted was a system map which I described and linked to. The link you are describing only shows individual routes which you must select by name. Good if you currently use JTA and want to see what is changing for you...not good if you want to analyze/study the overall system.
I'm still having trouble finding the new system map.

This is a "copy image address" from the original posting of the map. You can zoom in, though...

It would be nice to see JTA build actual bus stations at the transfer points. It still seems many buses will still be coming back down town.
OR Make Convention Center and King station like Rosa Parks where those stations are main transfer points

I'm having trouble zooming very deeply into this image with my iPad. It seems to blur out as I get close.
I really want to check out some of these routes, even if it's just for lunch or a downtown trip. I also want to try the smartphone part of it. I just experimented with the trip planner http://www.transportal.net/ (http://www.transportal.net/) and it's pretty cool; it offers combined walk/wait/bus trip planning that takes you door to door.
A positive step. Let's keep going...

This is the link I used for the interactive map. It's great cause it highlights routes that you click on and provides detailed schedule information as well.
