What is going on with Hemming Park? I walked by twice this afternoon and the place not only looks worse than ever, it also has a very weird, unwelcoming vibe, which is new. It wasn't that big sign with the wacky logo which is, to me anyway, oddly reminiscent of Little Korea. While I still find that little piece of creativity extraordinarily strange, it doesn't fill me with the sense of foreboding I felt today. And, it wasn't the people...I am a complete bleeding heart and pretty much of a 'peace, love and rock 'n' roll' hippie when it comes right down to it. There was just something so isolated and dark about the place. I cannot put my finger on it. I can only say that I used to enjoy walking through there occasionally because it reminded me, in some small way, of the parks in Paris; however, today I could not get away from it fast enough. Anyone else notice a change? Btw, it wasn't the weather either because I love overcast days more than sunny ones. Thoughts?
I was there yesterday and I have no clue what you're talking about.
Reminds you of the parks in Paris? Not sure if serious. Can't be serious. Serious?
I can't help it...I miss Paris! And, I did say it was in small part. Maybe the chess tables...the trees, the birds. Who knows really? I guess if you miss something enough you look for pieces of it wherever you go. But I couldn't find them today.
Did you recently travel to another city? I call this Jacksonville atmospheric re-entry depression.
I didn't think about that! Could be exactly what it was. Maybe it will seem back to normal tomorrow. Thank you! :)
I used to love downtown Jax then I took a trip to Manhattan. when I came back I was just like....wow....so I totally relate to that atmospheric re-entry depression.
I went on a trip to Chicago over the summer. Imagine how that felt coming back...

I understand your sarcasm but, in a way, you really should love 'em. This one in particular provides a refreshing dose of reality, without malice or rancor, at a time when it is badly needed.
30 years of neglect and bad publicity is going to take longer than four weeks to reverse. Keep the faith. FHP know what they are doing.

haha! I think everyone knows exactly what you're talking about. After 16 trips to NYC I managed to overcome the reentry woes. Acceptance of reality helped a lot with that.
Go to a smaller crappier town to help offset, it helps a lot!

Eventually you get used it, but it was just this type of situation which landed me in the Atl for 8 years.
