I hope he is able to stay with the JSO for a long time, and make a significant impact.
His premiere was fantastic. I love the OMD reference in the article title (though it somewhat undercuts the appeal for "regular folks" to appreciate classical music -- then again, "regular folks" probably don't like OMD, either).
The JSO is probably the best thing going on downtown. They have a loyal buy small following. If you have not been then I cannot strongly enough recommend that you check out their Website (JaxSymphony.org)
and get some tickets. They also make a great gift. If you have children in school or are a student yourself
(college, university, or high school) they offer a flat out steal of a deal program called Sound Check Card.

For students up to age 25, the Sound Check Card is the student pass to the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra. The Sound Check Card offers student access to every Masterworks and Coffee series concert for an entire season. One card. One price. $25.

Students with a Sound Check Card CAN BRING THEIR PARENTS FOR AN ADDITIONAL $10, based on ticket availability.
Jacoby Symphony Hall is a World Class performing arts space and you are missing something unique and special if you have not been.
Just went this evening for the first time in a *long* time. Worth every minute. There's a fresh energy at the symphony like we haven't seen in years. Speaking as someone who never really thought to go to the symphony until recently, I'll definitely be back.

Looking forward to checking the re-invigorated Symphony out soon.
Have had season tickets to the Pops Series for several years. They do a wonderful job with that series also.
One of the hidden, often overlooked jewels of downtown the Symphony and the Jacoby Symphony Hall are definitely a great asset to Jacksonville.

I hadn't seen this thread before and when it popped up, I got excited for a second, thinking the Symphony were going to to an OMD concert.

No. I don't have "Love Actually" on my list.
We are doing "RUDY" on Saturday night at Daily's Place. The Jaguars are co sponsoring that and I'm thinking cause it is football themed.
Later we have "Wizard of Oz", "AMADEUS" and the first "Star Wars" on tap, all at Jacoby Symphony Hall.
