Very Positive. Good stuff.
Nice!!
I find this the most exciting part of the story:
Quote"We are pleased to announce that after a long dormancy, the Trio and the Barnett are set to regain their prominence in the epicenter of Jacksonville's urban core.," said Lisa Goodrich, Director of Community Engagement, SouthEast Group. "The historic preservation of these majestic properties will bring vitality and 24-hour life to our city with the addition of a Marriott hotel, restaurants, residences and an urban grocery store. SouthEast Group was so fortunate to have hosted Jaxsons Night Market for these many months, and as we prepare to utilize the lot for construction staging we are supportive of the efforts of the Friends of Hemming Park to program Hemming as a world-class public space. Hosting the market is a step toward achieving their goal."
Good. This makes sense and the event deserves a sponsor
So cool to see this take off. The new location will be awesome.
QuoteFirst day of a new era for Hemming Plaza
By Max Marbut, Staff Writer
Since it was sold to the people of the city for $10 in 1866 by the descendents of Jacksonville founder Isaiah Hart, the one-square-block patch of real estate known as "Hemming Park" has been an ever-changing part of Downtown's landscape.
The latest evolution began Tuesday when the Friends of Hemming Park, the nonprofit organization contracted by the city to manage the space, opened its office inside the Main Library and began setting up shop.
Funded with $1 million from the city for an 18-month agreement, the Friends of Hemming Park plan to make the area cleaner and safer. Programming is under development that will bring more people to the park.
The concept is to develop events based on "placemaking principles," said Vince Cavin, executive director of the Friends and former events and operations director for One Spark.

What is the vision of JNM? Will it always be a monthly thing or would it ever be sustainable to move to weekly or bi-weekly?
Congratulations to Field and everyone else for such a successful event. Great news although I already loved it at the most recent location. keep it going!
New name for Hemming?
It's no longer Hemming Plaza. It's Hemming Park now.
For some of us it was always Hemming Park. ;)

Jaxsons Night Market serves two purposes
1) to produce a signature monthly event downtown. Downtown merchants have longed campaigned for a 2nd Art Walk (many businesses are able to pay rent from the business generated on a good Art Walk night). This is hoping to serve as that second signature event, albeit with a different theme (we are more food focused, versus art focused)
2) to act as a business incubation tool. The market curates the kinds of locally owned businesses that are absent from the downtown retail mix. We provide an opportunity for existing businesses, that have the capacity and motivation to expand, to 'dip their toes in the water' in downtown. We have worked with existing building owners to get market vendors to start filling in empty storefronts downtown (more on that later).
Without the partnership with Community First Credit Union.. the market could not have made this move. The new partnership also allows the market to focus on business incubation opportunities.
This is a good thing. Hopefully, the results will be very evident shortly.
Thanks, Field and congrats to you guys...
The market takes place in Hemming Park this Thursday. Hope to see new and old faces!
Looks like the weather is shaping up to be gorgeous tomorrow night. Make plans to come down to Hemming Park for the market.
Jaxsons Night Market returns to Hemming Park Thursday night.
This month will feature several vendors making beer-infused delicacies from the award-winning Cooking With Intuition cookbook in celebration of Intution Ale Works' anniversary week. The market will also be the first time you can purchase cans of King Street Stout outside of the brewery!
10 new artisinal vendors are being added to the lineup in addition to other market favorites. Food options include a plethora of vegan options as well as a true taste of the world as vendors will be preparing Korean, Filipino, Indian, Thai, Vietnamese, Meditteranean, Carribean and Cuban meals.
The market also features the only fashion truck corral in the city.
Good chance to break out my winter clothes!
This makes me so happy. Thanks for such a great event!
Temps expeced to climb to the low 60's tomorrow by 5pm. Perfect weather to warm yourself up with great food.
MOCA is also debuting its new Project Atrium exhibit right next to Hemming Park. No excuse not to enjoy a vibrant downtown environment and supporting locally owned businesses.
Had a piping hot bowl of pho last night from market vendor Tado Street. It warmed me up big time.
Tonight, I plan on getting a bowl of soup from Soup To Nuts, an oyster mushroom dish from Dig Foods (made with Inuition beer), a punkmunk (Intuition's pumpkin beer) macaron from Restaurant Orsay and maybe even a spare rib or two from Driftwood BBQ. Will even pick up some collard greens from Black Hog Farms and order a sweet potato pie from Southern Roots for next week's Thanksgiving dinner tonight while at the market.
Plenty of food to keep you warm tonight in Hemming Park.
At Hemming now and wearing a short sleeve shirt. No excuses not to come tonight!

I'm in Atlanta for work. I too wish this event was bimonthly. With my schedule I often miss 3 or 4 events in a row.
I totally understand. Instead of hitting the market, I had to find a spot in Ocala. Unfortunately, all my clients are trying to get their meetings in before the holidays, which means I stay on the road for most of this month.
Jaxsons Night Market is tonight in Hemming Park.
Feel good about your purchases tonight... not only are you supporting unique locally-owned businesses, the market also helps to sustain Friends of Hemming Park's efforts to improve and program Hemming Park.
MOCA is also offering free admission tonight.
Is the skyway open extended hours? I know it "ends" at 9p so it wouldn't really need to be, but just curious.
Good job guys!

Thanks Ken
The market tomorrow (probably the best one yet) will feature new vendors like:
*Oyster Bar by Orsay
*The French Pantry(!) will be offering breads, pastries, etc
*Crème de la Cocoa offering probably the best chocolates, confections this side of the Mississip
*M Shack- burgers, shakes and fries
*Celys-filipino food
*River City Crepes- considering Jacksonville was founded by the French, having some crepes in the heart of the city seems appropriate.
There will be about 35 vendors (about half of which are new to the market) setup at Hemming tomorrow from 5:30p-9:00p.
