The main photo, is that the little tunnel that's still there on Myrtle? That whole strip would be cool if someone bought those buildings and renovated that area to a nice little district - especially if coordinated with another apartment structure like they're building further up the road...

Yes, that's the Myrtle Avenue Subway. Look close and you'll notice the streetcar line in the center.

WHOA. Did not know there was a subway system here. Is there an old thread on MetroJax someone could point me to, so I can nerd out for a bit?

It wasn't a "subway" in what one would associate with NYC or DC. It was/is a brief underground stretch of Myrtle Avenue for streetcars and automobiles.  Here's what it was and what it is today:
