Title: Favorite Film Score
Post by: AuditoreEnterprise on July 10, 2014, 03:24:38 PM
Okay on a stormy day what better is there to do than dig into those movie classics. As an avid lover of classical and new music compositions I would like to ask what was the film score you thought was the best. Better yet let's include everyone here and say games can count as well.

I will start by saying I quite enjoyed The Untouchables OST by Ennio Morricone.

Hard to go wrong with anything John Williams, but most recently, Arcade Fire and Owen Pallett did a beautiful job scoring Her.

Harry Potter and The Sorcerers Stone.

Amazingly creative melodies and orchestrations. In my opinion, a timeless movie score.

Favorite score moments in the last few years:

Sunshine: Capa's space jump (was also used in The Walking Dead): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=clG_1sqOsBs

Unbreakable (Bruce Willis/David Dunn realizing he's a super hero & killing the "orange man"): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-waJsBs0eBQ

The work of Tindersticks on the films of Claire Denis. They cover a variety of sounds pretty well, from the Gil Evans-style orchestral jazz of Trouble Every Day to the 70s-Eno-electro-ambiance of Bastards.
