a couple of the photos oddly appear to be of san jose episcopal?
I went to an estate sale there several years ago. They houses are really cool, wonderful design, and details. The materials used, lumber, glass, tile, etc were beautiful.
My sister and her family lived in one of those home for several years in the 1970s. They were very cool homes. I remember the living area as having a fireplace, spacious area and stone floors. However,it was pretty cold during the winter months.
The kitchen was pretty small and could accommodate one skinny person at a time.
We really enjoyed visiting my sister and were sorry when they left Coquina Gates.
Could you add the full citations for the two articles on Russell? I'd really like to check those out.
If you'd like to know more from the folks who actually digitized the scrapbook that makes up the basis of this article, contact us at https://www.facebook.com/CoquinaGates.
Had the community been contacted before this post was made, you could have gotten some photos that actually showed some context; inside of some of the houses, facts etc.
We appreciate the interest in our community, but this community is our home. Use discretion when driving through and taking photos of our homes especially if they're going to be posted on the internet, please.
Cracklow, those photos(taken by Austin Pool in 2013) are indeed of San Jose Episcopal. Mr. Russel designed and built the chapel you see in those photos.
Wow! This is incredible! I've never heard of this neighborhood. I have to check it out now
wow that's wild. Jacksonville is filled with these little treasures.
