If you ever thought, 'I wish downtown would have a cool record store, or a bakery, or a grocery store where I can buy fresh vegetables, eggs and meat, or a variety of places where I can shop for a cute dress...'
or even 'I sure wish TACO LU was downtown'...
well, then Thursday night is for you.

It's better than art walk and ram! (my opinion)
We'll be there. Looking forward to it, it'll be our first time.

Bumping this up, make plans on joining us tomorrow evening!
For those of you that never leave your hipster's paradise in the city, Taco Lu is pretty, pretty, pretty legit. It's worth the visit for the bangin shrimp taco alone.
I'm going to stop by after work. The past toe times I've gone later and the food trucks are already out of food. I guess you have to fight through the madness for the top shelf food! Also, I really want to figure out what Kathy's Table is. If you can pick up pre made meals, I think I've found my new go to spot.
Hope to see many new and familiar faces out tonight!
QuoteWith tweaks, Jaxsons Night Market looks to attract Downtown customers
With an earlier start time, a new location and — hopefully — better weather, the Jaxsons Night Market is hoping it can showcase the buying power of Downtown tonight.

See ya shortly.
I was there - Taco Lu hit the spot!
The Korean vegan food truck was amazing. I don't remember their name though. Their from Gainesville. Jaxsons market is a hit!
I had not realized the location moved from the Burrito Gallery lot. Loving this much more!

I didn't talk to them but their sign said "Heart and Seoul." Haha, I didn't get to try their food (just the tea) so I hope they return!!
Sadly I had to stay late at work and only got to drop by for a few minutes....that said, it seemed awesome...great job Mike!
Pretty nice array of vendors. I bought a little something from most of the folks there. We were very dissapointed in Taco Lu. Bangin taco was fine, but the other two were not. The bacon sliders from Chew Chew were very good. Jon Boat was good.
Trash cans were needed. Only a few of the food trucks had them and they were overflowing in the first hour. Otherwise good event for the vendors. They were selling out early.
While I was standing eating my Taco Lu (which I thought was pretty good), someone came by and changed out the bag in the trash can there. But yes, more trash cans - and recycling bins - were needed. I was standing because people were camping out at the picnic tables. Most at the tables were eating, but some were clearly just hanging out.

I hope they come back also. Their dishes were incredible and unique. I tried two of their dishes. Their faux meat had the same look, texture and taste ad real meat. It was crazy!
I would definitely recommend bringing a small chair though. Not enough tables. I had to fight off these kids for their spot lol
The market returns this Thursday evening from 5:30pm-9:00pm.
Just bumping this up to let people know that the market returns downtown this Thursday night.
Bumping this up for tomorrow night.

We're also having something called a 'build your own vegan nacho bar'. I've tasted the vegan nacho 'cheese' and it is delicious!
Taco Lu is back this week as are several new food vendors along with the already mentioned Girls Gone Green vegan nacho bar: Humble Pie-wood fired pizza, Wrap It Up- delicious wraps and 5 Loaves 2 Fish- a farm to truck style food truck.
Bumping this up, market happens tonight at the corner of Laura/Adams from 5:30-9:00pm
Is a good grass fed beef burger available?

Maybe... Five Loaves have it on a pic of a daily menu on their FB page: https://www.facebook.com/5Loaves2FishTruck/photos/pb.609037882510012.-2207520000.1408643997./697102257036907/?type=1&theater
Some of the other options look good as well.
This was a great small event. I really want to know where the folks who attend live? Downtown? Did not look like the downtown crowd to me.
I saw two of my friends from Riverside and it was their first time as was mine.
I was incredibly pissed off about one thing:
$5 cans of Intuition Beer. I like their product, but no way in hell it's worth $5 a can. That is an insult to the folks who attended the event and the citizens of Jacksonville in general. I would love to see Bold City set up next to them. Competition would be nice. I cannot tell you how angry that made me. Obviously I went without a beer.
I plan on getting a pint in a cold glass for less at Pele's in a few minutes. Not sure I want to buy any more of Intuition.
I live in Murray hill and I have been going to JAM since it started. Its really nice! I love "heart and soul," their a Korean vegan truck. I also like "extreme kettle corn" her popcorn is ballin!
I live in San Marco.
From that beer comment I can only assume you're not buying much craft beer, that's a pretty typical cost. Even the price at Pele's is comparable.
^ there's a difference between a pint (16 oz.) and a 12 oz. can
Yep, hence the pricing is "comparable" as opposed to "exactly the same if not more."
$30 for a six pack? Even at retail that is crazy. This was out in a dirt and grass parking lot.
It's no secret that beer's cheaper at the liquor store than at a bar, restaurant or special event. But at any rate this price isn't much different for that product than other places around town, including the restaurant you named. I don't understand why you were angry at the prospect of a $5 can of beer when you're spending exactly the same (or more) for a glass of the same beer at the restaurant.
I'll have to check the prices at the local store and Publix. $5 a can seemed extreme
I like the beer, though.
I just paid 4$ for a can of Bold City Killer whale at 1904. Anything over 5$ I stay away from lol
$5 for a can of beer is not exorbitant, nor is it the best deal available.
Quit yer whining and drink a cold, local, brew. 8)
Price checked a six pack of most of Intuition and Bold City products at Publix tonight. $8.99
$5 a can is outrageous. Especially in an unused parking lot in downtown. I guess you guys would be fine if all the food vendors double or tripled their prices too?
I've bought lots of pints (16 oz) in a cold glass at Peles during Happy Hour, and I will continue to do so. $3.00
And Taverna had a nice special going with a pint plus a pizza for $10. I'll do that too.
You want to drop $5 on a 12 oz can be my guest.
I'll spend my $ elsewhere.
Dude, you can't compare prices at a grocery store to prices at a bar/event. Totally different animals, and this shouldn't be surprising to anyone who's ever purchased alcohol before.
$5 is not out of line for craft beer at a special event. As I said, the prices at Pele's (http://www.peleswoodfire.com/wp-content/uploads/beer.pdf) are totally comparable: they have Intuition pints at $5 (Peoples and John Boat), $5.50 (I-10), and $6 (King Street), and they have several other craft beers in 12oz bottles costing $5-7. $5 for 12oz is a little steep but it's hardly "outrageous" or substantially different than any other place in this area (including the place you say you went to). Hell, Pele's has bottles of Bud at $4.
Bottles of Bud are $2 during Happy Hour at Pele's. And there is some overhead costs involved as well. None out in that parking lot.

::)
What is so hard to understand about special event pricing?
and man, this dude really loves Pele's.
I am totally cool with you spending all you want on the can of beer, as long as you don't mind if I pass on it.
Pele's is a point of reference which is a nice place to get a beer. I'm sure I could provide others, but their HH is a very good deal. Pretty sure Al's Pizza offers some great beer specials, too.
Jaxson's Night Market was nice and I will return, but I'm not ready to call it a "Special Event."
It seemed like an informal opportunity for some vendors to meet, greet, mingle, and sell.

FYI-
We have no control over what someone charges for our beer and please do not hold it against us. We are required by law to sell our beer to a distributor who then sells it to a retailer. It is marked up twice before the drinker gets their hands on it. It is illegal for Intuition to sell our beer directly to consumers, unless it is at our brewery. We loved to change that but the beer wholesalers lobbyists have very deep pockets.
Fair enough. The beer is excellent, usually one of my first choices. Really want to meet you sometime and talk about the business.

I can assure you with great certainty that Jaxsons Night Market is not free to put on.
MusicMan, I think you understand the difference between the usual bar price of craft beer and the happy hour price of cheap beer. I also think you understand my point that the beer at Night Market is comparable in price to a comparable product at Pele's or most other places in this market. As Ben says, there are unavoidable costs (including archaic legal hoops) behind alcohol at a bar or event. Your criticisms aren't really fair to Intuition or to the organizers of this event.

A lot of Springfielders attend. I know a number of urban workers/suburban dwellers stay after work as well.
If you go back and read my post, I enjoyed the event and clearly I drink a lot of Intuition's products. My OPINION
stated was $5 for a 12 oz can was too high.
Jaxsons Night Market is this Thursday night.
New and returning guests are welcome to attend. Market starts at 5:30pm and ends at 9:00pm at the corner of Laura and Adams St downtown.
Bumping this up for tomorrow night.
If you haven't been yet, this is definitely a cool event to meet up with friends at. Quality vendors, good beer and a unique aesthetic.
Bumping this up as a reminder that the market is tonight
(free bump:) )
This is a fun event, I wish I could go tonight, hopefully next time.
If you haven't been definitely check it out, you should also plan on eating there, and then of course, drinks afterwards at the volstead or bar of your choice!
fieldfm - how has the event been going popularity wise? Consider it a success?
We will be there! ;)
Coredumped, attendance-wise.. yes.
The next step is getting some of the vendors into permanent spots. Very optimistic about some prospects. Once that bridge is crossed, then I would start to consider it a success.

The event seemed very well attended last night!
Field, who can I talk to about booking to play music at the night market?
I attended last night for the first time. I was surprised at how many people were there, and the mix of people. Nice selection of vendors, but weird placement of the live music. Kind of blocked by the trucks and you couldn't see it from the tables. Would've been better placed where the fusion or Vietnamese food trucks were set up, in my opinion. Overall, very cool idea and I will definitely be back.
Quotebut weird placement of the live music. Kind of blocked by the trucks and you couldn't see it from the tables
Thank you sincerely for attending.
That's how they were originally setup, however I was having major issues getting power at that spot (the breakers kept tripping at that power source) so a compromise had to be made to move the performers to a different spot. It was not ideal, but the show must go on.
There were actually quite a few people there last night it was a really cool sight to see so many people having a good time like that. Really awesome event and major props to the organizers on this one.
