A planned restoration of Riverside's Memorial Park wins some financing.

The Jacksonville City Council approved a $200,000 allocation Tuesday to match $200,000 privately raised by the nonprofit Memorial Park Association.
The city money came from a recreation/parks account designated for Councilman Jim Love's council district, which includes the park.
Combined, the city and private money will be used to restore the statue's fountain basin, slabs and walls and replace plumbing equipment and controls; repair park entry walls at Riverside Avenue and perimeter walls at Memorial Park Drive and Margaret Street; and improve drainage.
