My grandmother, Mary Elizabeth Cantee Hunt grew up in the Cantee Street area and I have been told that the street was named after my Great Grandfather, Captain Cantee, who was in the Merchant Marine out of Jacksonville probably starting about 1880.
Does anyone on the thread have an idea where I might get more information about Captain Cantee.
