Title: The Hyppo scouting Riverside to bring gourmet ice pop store to Jacksonville
Post by: thelakelander on May 15, 2014, 12:24:42 PM
QuoteHyppo Gourmet Ice Pops are on their way to grocery stores— and soon to their own storefront in Jacksonville.
Hyppo founder Stephen DiMare said Wednesday that he's looking for a retail space in Riverside where he could sell his gourmet popsicles, which come in hundreds of flavor combinations like cucumber lemon mint and blood orange cheesecake.
"I love that area," DiMare said. "I'm waiting on the right spot. We just don't want to be hasty."

Nice. I was at Bono's earlier this week and they sell them there.

The Hyppo has been looking in Riverside/Avondale/San Marco since at least last fall. Hope they finally find a good place and pen a deal. The cafe model of their stores would do well here.

If this is the same place where I've had their popsicles for an after dinner treat on a freezing evening last winter in St. Augustine then I can't wait for them to come to Riverside or Edgewood Ave in Murray Hill.  Though, there are move bars and restuarants on King Street or 5-Points that gets more round the clock foot traffic.

Highly doubt they'd go to Murray Hill.

Let BoldBoyOfTheSouth have his fun.  He's been trolling lots of threads trying to plug Murray Hill in there.  Good for you, man.  Rep that hood!

I can never decide whether to be happy for MH when Community Loaves, Knead, or the like locates there.  In one way, good for you guys.  In another way, I want Riverside to keep filling up storefronts for my personal purposes.  In this case, though, I would be surprised if Hyppo ended up there.

Riverside is running out of spaces and the neighbors of King Street are getting cranky at every new business and every additional car parking there.   Riverside needs more desistation spots like this but when more people drive from Mandarin for a pop,  they'll have to park somewhere. When they do, the natives will get restless and angry.

If this pop place becomes successful in Riverside then others will follow and more traffic and car parking hasles and more angry natives screaming about suburbanites parking in front of their houses and dropping their pop sticks on their lawn.

damn suburban kids and adults needs to get their pop sticks off of their lawns.

I wonder if they were to open in Riverside / Avondale if the Orange Creamcicles in would have a hint of urine flavor?

Contrary to the narrative painted by some... there are several hundreds of unused parking spaces in Riverside.

I read that as storefront space, not parking spots.  Maybe I'm wrong though.

Anyway, I think San Marco would actually be a better fit.  The square is usually crawling with kids and families every time I go down there.

The rest of the post was all parking-related, leading me to believe that 'space' inferred parking spaces

People who say this must have never tried to find a parking spot in an actual big city.  I've never had a problem finding a spot anywhere in Jacksonville.  Ever.

I go to every Jags game and park for free downtown.  If the biggest ticket in town has ample parking, another storefront in Riverside is not really an issue.
