Title: Parking Progress
Post by: gradco2004 on May 01, 2008, 07:44:13 PM
• Parking on Adams Street is now allowed any time and anywhere. Tuesday City workers were removing the signs prohibiting parking at the Adams Street meters from 7-9 a.m. and 4-6 p.m. The change was made at the request of the Jacksonville Economic Development Commission as a way to provide additional parking for patrons of the businesses and restaurants on the street.

That's interesting.

Great news though.  Adams should also be a good ginea pig for the city on testing out proposed parking ordinance changes.

It's good to see the JEDC follow the lead of Activist Downtown Property Owners and Merchants, who previously removed the signs between Main and Laura about 2 months ago.

Can we expect removal of the Learner Building construction fencing before year end?  And by whom...

I honestly think that someone could add or remove as many signs as they want downtown and the city wouldn't have a clue. Maybe some activists should start removing the meters too.
