STUART - Congressman Patrick Murphy and two county commissioners spoke at an anti- All Aboard Florida rally today at Flagler Park that drew a crowd of about 300.
The rally was organized by Florida NOT All Aboard. It is the second rally in two weeks. Last week, some 85 boaters gathered in the St. Lucie River to protest additional lowerings of the single-track train bridge, which could hamper navigation in the St. Lucie River, part of the Okeechobee waterway between the east and west coasts of Florida.
Martin County Commissioner Sarah Heard and Indian River County Commissioner Bob Solari were among speakers at today's event.
Local governments have expressed concern with additional costs for road crossing maintenance and quiet zones.
Also speaking at today's rally was talk radio host Joyce Kaufman.
