Growing up, my grandmother always went to Solomon's!
However, I've never been. This is a good reminder to go check it out. Thanks!
Awesome! I love places like this. :D Thanks for posting!
My grandmother lived in Art Museum apartments back when the toll booth was still open. We'd walk over there and get treats and neat stuff all of the time. I still go about once every other month, you never know what you'll find there. From random office supplies, to interesting food items, to huge surplus military ammo boxes. Last time I was there I bagged a set of egyptian cotton 2000 thread count sheets for 15 bucks!
It's really just the neatest place in town. The staff is always friendly and the stuff that comes through is just plain fun.
there goes my secret weapon!
you really never know what you are going to find there
Hmm. Interesting I believe after work I will be swinging by there to check this place out.
This store was the inspiration for this 48 Hour Film Festival stop motion travesty:

I have been buying old records for a buck apiece there for the past few months. Where else are you gonna find Conway Twitty mixed in with radio promo copies of Lil Jon and the East Side Boyz?
I've always had a great experience there. However, I think they would benefit from focusing on groceries and appliances, not crappy yard sale stuff.
I think that some of the shipments they get in are great. Some of that stuff is useful to someone, and it's the cheapest place to get it. A lot of it is useless to me, but I did find snazzy sparkly letter stickers. If it were just food and appliances, it may as well be just another Sav-a-lot. The random junk adds character to the place.
Solomon is a smaller... "upscale" version of Sheps on the Westside. 8)

Didn't they use to have one out on Beach too close to St Johns Bluff??
I think I saw them selling used golf carts yesterday. didn't stop to check it out though.
They use to have a big warehouse on Beach Blvd near San Pablo Rd. up until a few years ago.

Thanks. I thought they had also and had visited it several years ago.
