Anyone know anything about the old Cozy Tea space on Park in 5 Points? Looks like it is being turned into some kind of bar or restaurant?
Yes. Another food truck owner is turning brick and mortar.
Damned food trucks. They are such a negative. We need to find a way to restrict market rate growth and job creation that doesn't require public subsidies ;)

I think we need to regulate this... think of all the
possible bad things that
might happen to other B&M businesses. There are countless scenarios where this business could, possibly, conceivably, forsee-ably harm other businesses in the area. ;)
Does anyone know which foodtruck?

Announcement should come out in about a week.
^In other words, "yes, I know, but I'm going to make you wait." Well played, sir ;)

Just find Field on the trolley tonight after about 11 pm and I bet he'll tell you all about it!
GREAT NEWS!!!
Dang food trucks getting all brick and motory on us.
What's next? Vibrant neighborhoods with locally owned restuarants that evolve from food trucks?!?
New jobs, retail sales, vibrant street life, new life for old buildings.
We are witnessing the downfall of HACKsonville.
This is great news. I love progression!!
I totally know, too. I am also not going to tell. :-X
(I actually don't, but it feels really good to be in on the secret)

Not cool... >:(
so what's the story on this place, it's the Grilled cheese thing. Still no further movement for months...
It's the Happy Grilled Cheese (http://www.bizjournals.com/jacksonville/news/2014/06/09/exclusive-an-in-depth-look-at-what-the-happy.html?page=all).
Demolition has started in the old Fuel building.
Also, rumor is that something called Alewife is going to go into the Riverside Wine space. Anybody know what it is?

Nope.. but speaking of 5 points what's going on with the Wolfgang bar across the street. Any idea what it will feature and when it will be done?

Cool, but
Quote"There isn't a place [in Jacksonville] where you can drink onsite and do your shopping at the same time," Pickard said.
Off the top of my head, you can do this at Whole Foods and soon will be able to do it at Beer 30 on King Street.
EDIT: ABC Liquors, too.
I feel like I'm the target audience for this new establishment (being a younger female craft beer fan who lives in Riverside) but I'm not overly excited about this place. I wish them well, but I'm just not excited.
Fact is that I can already buy and drink good beer in other establishments around town (European Street, Grape and Grain, Whole Foods, Riverside Liquors). Also, if I wanted, I could drink some good beer at Pele's and then walk around the corner and buy more good beer at Beer:30.
So, unless this place intends to sell growlers of things that I can't get anywhere else, I'm not really excited about them.
My mind may change once I have a chance to go there.
Aren't growlers still illegal in Florida? Didn't the legislation to allow them get caught up in the beer distributors nonsense attempt to throttle craft brewers?
You can sell growlers, I have several. However, the standard size of growlers are still illegal after that shameful situation where the anti-craft beer lobby hijacked the bill that would make them legal. I don't know if a place like this would be able to do that, though.
Looking forward to this place. It will be hard pressed to compete with the beer selection over at Grassroots, but I think the craft beer market in Riverside and the urban core are easily strong enough for another good option.

There are a few ABC Liquors locations around town that are either currently set up to fill growlers or working on being set up for it. I believe that Beer:30 is also working on being able to fill growlers at their store as well.
Grassroots is my favorite place in the area to buy beer. It's not the biggest selection, but it's very well curated. I'm excited about the things that are in the works at Beer:30 too. I will give Alewife a try once they open.
Alewife signed a 5 year lease, so you will have some time to try them out, they will be there for some time!

We have reached peak craft beer.
Not even close.
We have reached peak craft beer in Riverside. Between Beer:30, Dahlia's, Intuition, Bold City, this place, Grassroots, and the offerings at Mellow, Mojo, Lola's, Pele's, Hawkers, Black Sheep, Casbah, and European Street, yeah, I would respectiverly say we have.
Look at a couple of maps for San Diego, Portland, Asheville or Denver then get back to me. Those cities support quite a bit more breweries/bars that love craft beer. Most of the places you mentioned also don't solely focus on craft beer but are wise enough to know that it should be included on the drinks menu.

Nope. The above mentioned places have merely adapted to the local demand for craft beer.
Looks like a cool spot.
I don't think we're anywhere near "peak beer", in Riverside, in Jacksonville, or the entire state of Florida. Riverside may seem that way because it's so far ahead of the curve among most other Florida neighborhoods, but the market has a lot more room to grow. It's likely that what we'll see in the future will be more places in Riverside that do other things to distinguish themselves from the competition (like Goozlepipes, Brew, or this place), and more traditional beer bar places opening up in other neighborhoods besides Riverside.
While I hope more people learn to enjoy craft beer, I know there will always be those who want the cheap, tasteless stuff but I had a good chuckle Thursday night about one of those said people.
So, I was at Dos Gatos ordering a Gin Julep (One of my favorite drinks there) and this gruff character comes up to the bar and asks what specials the have? The polite bartender let him know they had a blue plate special, a PBR and shot of whisky and a red plate special, a Tecate and shot of tequila. He then proceeds to explain that both of those sound disgusting and are horrible, etc... then proceeds to ask for a bud light and whatever their well bourbon is.
He was kicked out shortly after for falling over and basically being too drunk.
The craft beer market is definitely growing while macro beer, especially light beer, is declining.

"Light beer heading toward 10-year low in sales"

There will always be people who don't want to drink craft beer (or beer at all), and there will always be businesses happy to serve them.
