A national television show has produced big changes for Sweet Pete's. The Springfield candy store is getting a new partner with lots of money. And it's moving downtown to create what its owners hope will be a candy destination.
The store was featured Tuesday night on CNBC's "The Profit," where Marcus Lemonis, CEO of Camping World and Good Sam, looks at companies that need his advice and capital.
They're getting both.
Lemonis has agreed to invest in the company with the idea that it will move from the old house it now occupies to an 8,600-square-foot building at 331 W. Forsyth St.

Wish they had relocated to the old Peterson's/Fuel building in 5 Points. Maybe it wasn't big enough.

and of course the reason for the relocation is the lack of street traffic and passers by.
people walking on the streets is the literal magic cauldron of small business.
it wasn't completely about that.....but yes, that was a major factor....other factors included kitchen size and a souring of the relationship with the building's owner (and Sweet Pete partner) Dane Baird
The show on CNBC last night was very entertaining.

That would have been an awesome addition to 5 Points. Separately, I love that the Sun Ray sells Sweet Pete's caramels--we always get some when seeing a flick.
But I do think they'll do great in the new location downtown and with their classes and parties they might help draw more traffic to the area on the weekends.
Awesome location, just checked it out on Google Earth. Forsyth is a happening street in DT.
