Post by: spuwho on March 30, 2014, 10:42:28 PM
In an announcement that is sure to set all local craft brewers to panic...TinMan Brewing of Evansville, IN has announced the availability of Klingon Warnog beer.

The wait is nearly over, Klingons and Klingon lovers. Klingon Warnog -- the first Star Trek themed beer to hit the U.S. -- can soon be yours. Brewed by Tin Man Brewing of Evansville, Indiana, Klingon Warnog will incorporate rye malt into a modern Dunkelweizen grain bill, creating a flavor profile that is both familiar and unique.

As the Federation of Beer folks put in brewing-ese, Warnog's aroma is predominantly mild banana and clove produced by the German wheat yeast, supported by subtle sweet malt character from the use of Munich malt. The flavor draws heavily from the blending of the rye malt and traditional clove character, creating a very rich and unique flavor. The inclusion of wheat and caramel malts help to round out the mouthfeel of this beer, making this Dunkelweizen hearty enough to be called... a Klingon Warnog.

Klingon Warnog will be available in the United States and in Canada later this year. Keep an eye on StarTrek.com and FederationofBeer.com or details.

We are still awaiting the release of a good batch of blood wine from a local vitner.

Would "Vulcan Ale" suffice?

I'm a little disappointed that Klingon Beer is a dunkelweizen.  I can see a 15% Russian Imperial Stout!

This may not be a best seller.  Klingons typically prefer to imbibe Klingon Bloodwine.

"Klingon bloodwine - A red wine of which Worf had programmed the replicators on the Enterprise-D to create a close approximation. It was also available at Quark's on Deep Space Nine. It is best served warm, and is the traditional beverage consumed by warriors being inducted into the Order of the Bat'leth."

The drink of choice for the Federation is Saurian brandy.

The next time I stop at the planet Sauria, I will have a case sent to my ship.
