I honestly never thought I'd hear lawyers say that there are too many lawyers ...
From today's JBJ:
QuoteMany Florida lawyers think the most serious problem the legal profession faces today is too many lawyers.

Not so sure, I've been hearing it for at least 2 decades.
There are a lot of lawyers, and yeah, maybe too many. I will say that the profession of late is dwindling, if you're looking at law school and bar application numbers. By virtue of polls like these + the media, almost by inertia younger potential lawyers are looking to other professions for work.
There are never too many good Lawyers, but there are always too many bad ones. Same goes for Realtors.

And a lot of other professions. ;D
I've had 3 lawyer neighbors move to other states because of the supply down here.
Sounds like it will work itself out - supply and demand.
But I'll be very happy when this guy is off the TV/Radio every 5 minutes:

Sadly it looks like his kids are taking over the legacy of being obnoxious....

That's great news! We need more doctors, nurses, engineers, skilled tradesmen, and technicians.
According to the article, all of 1,000 lawyers took the survey. The Florida Bar website reports 98,217 licensed lawyers as of January of this year. I doubt that the ones responding to the survey represent a fair cross section of membership. I also wonder if there is an overabundance of labor lawyers, elder law lawyers, Legal Aid Association/poverty lawyers, and so on.
Is there an overabundance of lawyers whose obnoxious advertising fills television, billboards, and the sides of busses that wind through the city? Darn tootin'.
There must be too many lawyers, and I'm not being sarcastic. A kid I graduated school with came to my office selling t-mobile phone plans door to door, presumably on commission. I asked him wtf happened, said he couldn't find a job. That's not normal. It's rather a hard-fought dollar these days. Whoever thinks they're going into this for the money ought to think twice.
