Title: Kenny Loggins @ The Florida Theater
Post by: spuwho on February 15, 2014, 04:27:50 PM
I attended the Kenny Loggins concert last night at the Florida Theater and I wanted to say what an entertaining, heartfelt and rocking concert it was.

Backed by a full band he started acoustic going through his repertoire from the early 1970's and along the way shared several hilarious stories about how certain songs either got written or was heard despite the legal circumstances.

Kenny, now 66 years old (and not slowing down) had an interesting audience to entertain. Many of his generation were there to hear many of his famous songs with Loggins & Messina, yet there was another generation there who grew up hearing his hits with Michael McDonald (of the Doobies) and the movie anthems he covered in the Eighties.

He did not disappoint, with exceptional lead guitarist Scot Bernard leading the way he rocked his way through his catalog mixed in with album favorites and some of his hit ballads.  After a standing ovation from the house, he came back and followed up with a melody of his movies hits (ie: Danger Zone from Top Gun ) capped off by his single "Footloose".  Another ovation followed and he finally closed the house with one more song.

Clearly Jacksonville loves Kenny Loggins;

Glad you had a good time!

The Florida Theatre (sorry, grammer nazi, had to do it) is really an awesome place and we're very lucky to have it. It reminds me of the fox theatre in Atlanta though I think smaller, which gives us a more intimate setting.
If someone comes that you're interested in and you haven't been to the Florida Theatre I highly suggest you go!

It's a great place to host events like this.

I have been to many of the remaining old "grand" palaces when I lived in Chicago. Oriental, Chicago & Auditorium Theatres.

The Florida reminds me of those.
