Title: Times-Union on their 16th Mayor's Office Beat Reporter
Post by: Steve on April 22, 2008, 09:52:31 AM
Some changes in how the Times-Union covers City Hall. Mary-Kelli Palka is moving from the mayor’s office to cover education. Davd Hunt will switch from education to the mayor’s office and Tia Mitchell will cover City Council, taking over for Beth Kormanik. According to communications chief Susie Wiles, Hunt is the 16th reporter to cover City Hall during her time with either Mayor John Delaney or Mayor John Peyton.

i wonder if anyone knows - beyond speculation - why the changes.  i personally would speculate that the t-u would like to change it up often so that the administration doesn't get too cozy with the same beat reporter. (and vice versa)

To me, this is part of the reason that there is little investigation into the Mayor's office.  Think about it, if you keep changing up people's jobs, you have to build relationships with people, and find out who is your "go to" person that you can buy "some Schnapps to unlock the vault".

(somebody better know what that's from)
