Joshua Taylor gives us an inside look at one of the most under-the-radar new restaurants to join the downtown dining scene, one that is pushing to translate farm-to-table ethos into an affordable, approachable, and, above all, personable experience.

I thought they were open later than 2:30 pm. We're they testing hours for the past few weeks?
Is this the former Justin's space?
I wish her luck... 8)
QuoteI have to pay business taxes, unemployment taxes, payroll tax, property tax, taxes on my internet, my water, electricity, gas, and now you're going to charge me a usage tax on the things I already own?! With all the taxes in this county, there should be no homeless people. And I'm trying to create jobs for the city!"
I've never been there probably because I never realized it was there & if I did and saw that drab, unwelcoming exterior, I would of passed it by thinking it was some low end sandwich shop.
DOWNTOWN CAN'T AFFORD RESTAURANTS THAT THINK THEY ARE TOO GOOD FOR THE MASSES. Other cities can get away with that because their downtowns are vibrant. Downtown Jax really needs our businesses to have curb appeal and feel welcoming and want to be part of the street scene to see and be seen.
The Salmon and Bacon Panini looks delicious.
Very happy they use fresh ingredients and locally sourced food/ingredients.
Everything I've eaten there has been excellent. My favorite items are the jalapeno feta burger and the sweet potatoes.
Thanks to all of you who have come by and tried my food. I want to respond to the person who says that "DOWNTOWN CAN'T AFFORD RESTAURANTS THAT THINK THEY ARE TOO GOOD FOR THE MASSES." I am definitely NOT that. I am located at the bottom of the Ashely St. Apartments and have limitations on signage and such that I can use by the HOA here. In fact I can't modify the outside at all. So I am for sure not too good for the masses in fact I would love the masses to come and eat some food that won't give them a hang over :) I hope you will come by and see for yourself, and ask for me, Rose. I would love to make you some yummy food!

So Rose, are you open in the evenings anymore?
unfortunately not at this time. I am trying to build my business and was loosing a ton by trying to stay open at night. I think once the weather evens out and I can have some live music outside I might try to do nights again. I really wanted to be a "downtown" crowd restaurant more than a lunch only restaurant but not enough people know about me yet to warrant continuing the night hours. I am trying to work with Josh and the FL theater to do "opening night" for them and see how it goes. If you have any suggestions on how I could build a night crowd I would be willing to try again :)
