Company informed the employees on Tuesday
By Roger Bull
Convergys Corp. is going to lay off 250 employees in Jacksonville. The company informed the employees on Tuesday and filed notice with the state Wednesday.
Convergys employs about 1,200 people at its Baymeadows offices.
A company spokeswoman said one of its clients' programs with Convergys will close on March 31. She would not name the client. Those employees will have the opportunity to apply for positions with the company's other programs.

Oh the outrage, where is the Mayor and his television crew? Oh the outrage!
They layoff and hire people all the time. I don't know why time made the news.
^^^I'm with you. If I was to think of a job with an inconsistent unreliable company, Convergys would come up to the top of the list. It basically defines 'unstable telemarketing job'. It definitely sucks for those people, but I can't say that I'm surprised at all.

Agree. They are basically a temp job.
I had a friend who work there for a really long time. Projects come and go on a regular basis because of the type of company convergys is. Usually they try to place people on other projects. If theres no room, then they are laid off. Its the nature of the beast around there. So yeah this isnt big news. They lost one project, and probably will get another big project later this year and hire more people.
It's the nature of the beast for a vendor like Convergys. I worked for Citigroup and we used Convergys. You'd add staff when you needed them, released them when you didn't. Surprised this is news.
