Title: Frontier Airlines coming to St. Augustine
Post by: blizz01 on January 30, 2014, 10:38:43 AM
Interesting route - I've always loved the animal tails/liveries on the planes.  Even though it's Jersey, $49 (each way) may just force me up there for a visit to Philly as well....

A fairly substantial amount of Flagler students and St. Augustine residents are from NY/NJ, so that makes sense.

St. Aug built a new terminal for the now defunct Skybus airlines.  Frontier should be an almost identical fit.

Yeah, my family took Skybus a few times years ago. While my parents were in the middle of a trip, the company shut down. Not cool, lol.

Interesting that the article states Frontier is the only airline providing scheduled service out of Trenton-Mercier and will be the only airline providing service to St Augustine.

I usually go to the Jersey Shore once or twice during the summer to visit my wife's family. These flights are super cheap ($91 rt after tax) and closer than Newark, plus less of a hassle of dealing with JIA and Newark. Definitely works for me. Will also be a nice boost for tourism and economic development in St. Auggie as the article states.

I remember this. I purchased four tickets for a Skybus flight to New York and they shut down five days before the scheduled flight. That definitely wasn't cool.

QuoteFrontier Airlines adding direct flights between New Jersey and St. Augustine is adding a big boost to the local tourism industry.

America's oldest city is already a popular tourist destination, but Frontier's direct flights are expected to bring an estimated $10 million a year, according to Florida Times-Union.
